Who Knew?

The funniest person I know.

Today I was talking to Colin, and I was like “you are really funny.  You might be the funniest person I know.”  Then I thought about it for a minute, and was like “nope, you are definitely not funnier than…”

Ashley.

Did you know that in Camrose you can only mail something if it has two or less pieces of paper in it?  On Friday I mailed in three forms for work.  They came back in the mail today with a note attached saying that my envelope was over the weight limit.  For THREE pieces of paper.  And I was mailing it somewhere in Camrose.  So, for the same effort that it took them to bring it back to my house, they could have just delivered it.

At our house we have a garage.  We never use it because it isn’t sealed well, and it is full of spiders.  The only things that are in there are the barbeque, the lawnmower, a childrens wagon that Colin’s grandma found, and a boxspring (this has to be in there because we can’t fit it down the stairs into the basement…crazy old house).  Today I decided that the little room off our bedroom had to have a purpose.  It used to have our computer in it, but that is now in the living room because we got a new desk that matched our other furniture.  I figured I should just set up the double bed in there, because maybe company didn’t like sleeping on the living room floor.  I was worried that there would be lots of bugs in the boxspring so I sent Colin out to get it.  Turns out there were no spiders in it, but there was a dead bird.  How it got in there and then died, I have no idea.  Now I am thinking that people would rather sleep on the floor.

The Dentist

At the beginning of June I went to the dentist to get my wisdom teeth checked.  He looked for like 30sec, charged me $50, and said they were fine.  Today I went in for a cleaning, and they did some x-rays.  All of my teeth are fine except my wisdom teeth.  Really the problem is only one of them.  In the dentists words…”you have a really big cavity.  I hope your tooth doesn’t fall apart before we can pull it out.”  Thats great.  So now he is going to pull all four out, which will cost $600.  On top of the $300 I spent today, and the $50 in June.  And I have to take a day off work for it.

Grandpa Mearl

Grandpa Mearl is Colin’s Dad’s Dad.  He is a twin.  His brother’s name is Earl.  He is also a very very funny man.  Last night Colin, Barry (Colin’s dad), and I went to visit him and have coffee.  He just recently moved into a senior’s lodge in Camrose.  After coffee we went to look at his new room.  It was full of boxes of random things.  One of them was full of Readers Digest magazines from the sixties.  He pulled them out to show us (and try to make us take…) and as we were looking through them we found one without a cover.

Mearl: Oh this one doesn’t have a cover.  It’s about the same size as a reader’s digest.  I don’t know though…could be a playboy.

Barry: Um no…I don’t think so.

Later we were talking about the fact that he has to lock his door when he isn’t in the room.

Mearl:  I don’t lock it at night though.  I’m hoping some lady might accidently come in.

He has been divorced since before Colin was born so this is actually really funny.  I almost fell off my chair.

Our crazy weather

So lately (by this I mean at least the last month AT LEAST!) we have been having some strange weather.  I almost feel like I have been transported back to BC with all the rain we have been having.  Every day, except maybe 1 or 2, we have had thunderstorms.  Some just pass by quickly, some flood the streets and cause hail that looks like snow.  You really never know what the weather will be like in five minutes.

Today I went to starbucks and was planning on coming home and mowing the lawn.  It was nice and sunny out.  By the time I got home it was raining.

Last week Colin and I were at Tim Hortons at like 7pm and the sky turned completely black (like middle of the night black) and got really windy.  The rain was blowing sideways!  It was  ridiculous.

Yesterday was the best though.  There was a tornado watch!  Now it has always been one of my life goals to see a tornado for real.  I stood on a chair and looked out the window for close to an hour, but sadly, I didn’t get to see one.  The power almost went out though.

Now as I finish writing this it is all blue skies and sunny.  It just can’t make up its mind.

Well, I haven’t blogged lately because nothing has really been going on.  (other than my mom coming to visit for a few days which was really fun!)  We get the question a lot “what are you guys doing now?”  because we are not going to school, and Colin always says “just working and going to church.”  That pretty much sums it up.  Which is okay too.  We don’t like to go out much.

One thing I have been doing though is playing guitar hero.  I think I am addicted.  Two weeks ago I couldn’t beat songs on easy, now I can get 5 stars on some of the medium ones.  I need to keep practicing though because Colin is good at the hard ones and can beat some of the expert ones as well.  I also would like to get rock band because it just came out for Wii, but it is $170 at WalMart, and I don’t know if I would like it that much.

How embarassing

So yesterday I had my calander off the wall and was writing in a few things that I need to remember.  I was on the page for July and Colin walked by so I said ” look…its our anniversary.”  And then I said “wait..that isn’t our anniversary…”.  I wrote our anniversary on the wrong day!  Now in all fairness I wrote it on the day of my sisters anniversary, but still.  And for some reason anytime anyone asks me what day we got married I always tell them the 17th.  Every time.  Then I look stupid because I always have to correct myself and tell them it is actually on the 21st.

Wisdom teeth and working.

On Tuesday I had a dentist appointment to get my wisdom teeth checked because I have all four still.  I needed to make sure that they weren’t going to make my teeth crooked.  So, I got in the chair, the dentist looked in my mouth for under a minute, my teeth are fine, and I had to pay $50.  Gross.  He didn’t even do anything.  I guess that is why you should have dental insurance I suppose.

In other news I started my new job today.  It was pretty fun, and I enjoy only working 4h a day.  Now I have the whole afternoon to do whatever I want.  (you know, clean my house, do the laundry, dishes….all the stuff you would normally enjoy doing)

Things that happened/are going to happen soon.

1.  Sam and Ashley came for a visit on Thursday.  It was pretty fun.  We did all of the exciting things to do in Camrose such as go to Merchants, visit Wanda, and play dutch blitz.  We also fixed Sam’s broken windshield with super glue.

2.  On Sunday we went to YC with the youth group from Rez.  The kids had a really good time, and I got to see Sam and Ashley again.  I also saw Bryana and Darby, Sheri, and Cooper.  I guess YC is the place to go on Sundays.

3.  On Thursday I am going to Edmonton again!  I feel like I have been there at least once a week lately.  This time is just for fun though with Kari and Amber.  And we are going to go to Marble Slab for lunch.  Yum.

4.  This weekend we are going camping!  Oh Boy!  I haven’t been camping in like 6 years.  (except for winter camp etc. but that doesn’t count as camping because I didn’t want to go.  It is only real camping if you want to go and then you have fun….and you stay in a trailer.)  We are going with Bo and Amber, and maybe Kari and Clayton.  Did I mention this trailer has a bathroom with a shower?

I think that is all I have to say.  Other than these things we have been pretty boring lately.
